Annie Lennox slams Beyoncé again: ‘Twerking is not feminism’

theGRIO VIDEO - Singer Annie Lennox is calling out Beyoncé again in a new interview, saying that 'twerking is not feminsim'....

Last month, music legend Annie Lennox tried to come for Beyoncé, calling her a “token feminst” with “cheap lyrics.”

During a new interview with NPR while promoting her upcoming Nostalgia album, the 59-year-old “Walking on Broken Glass” singer went in on Beyoncé again.

“I was being asked about Beyoncé in the context of feminism,” Lennox recalled. “I was thinking at the time about very impactful feminists that have dedicated their lives to the movement of liberating women and supporting women at the grass roots, and I was saying, ‘well that’s one end of the spectrum, and then you have the other end of the spectrum.'”

In a September interview with PrideSource magazine, Lennox responded to Beyoncé’s claims of feminism, calling her a “lite feminist,” along with making other derogatory comments about her image as a music artist.

Her recent NPR interview doubled-down on the criticism.

“Listen, twerking is not feminism. Thats what I’m referring to. It’s not — it’s not liberating, it’s not empowering. It’s a sexual thing that you’re doing on a stage; it doesn’t empower you. That’s my feeling about it.”

Well, Ms. Lennox should not sit around and wait for Beyoncé to cover one of her classic songs any time soon.
