A Russian soccer coach announced that his club will not sign any more black players because they had “enough dark-skinned players; we’ve got six of the things.”

Igor Gamula, FC Rostov coach, is known for inflammatory statements. He also joked that black players would spread Ebola, according to Yahoo! Sports’ “Early Doors” blog.

Gamula’s comments came in response to questions by reporters about whether the club would sign Cameroonian defender Benoit Angbwa.

He joked that five of his Russian players already had temperatures at that he was “already worrying it’s Ebola.”

He hastily added that  the remark was meant as “a joke, obviously.”

The 54-year-old coach has only been in charge of Rostov since September. The Rostov club plays in Russia’s top division.
