Luther Vandross was outed as gay after his death.

A mother believes a Smyrna, Georgia police officer has been pursuing an inappropriate relationship with her son.

The officer in question is also a neighbor. The mother told Atlanta’s CBS 46 that her 15-year-old son often walked the man’s dog.

She said she realized something was wrong when her son didn’t come home for some time, so she went to the officer’s apartment.

“When I went up to knock on the door it took about 5 minutes for them to open the door,” she said. “You could hear them walk up to the door and look out the peep-hole. They walked away and they told me they were coming. My son opened the door.”

The woman, who would not reveal her identity to CBS 46’s Frank Wiley Jr., also found several inappropriate texts from the officer on her son’s phone, including an image of a man in women’s lingerie.

She claims that these texts were not reviewed by the police department. The texts were so explicit and sexual in nature, that CBS 46 would not discuss or reveal them on air.

The Smyrna police stated that they could not release any further information on the matter because the officer is under active investigation.
