A Memphis mother says her son’s teacher choked him in one of the school’s hallways.

Surveillance video shows the 7th grader and his social studies teacher rounding a corner but does not show the alleged choking.

“You can’t actually see him getting choked in the corner,” said Tametrius Walker. “But you can see him in the corner, doing something to him.”

Walker is pressing the school to fire the teacher, but law enforcement officials say there is not sufficient evidence, and the school has decided only to separate the teacher and student into different classes. “They giving me the runaround and not doing what they supposed to do,” Walker commented.

Students’ statements seem to support Walker’s version of events, though, and several said they saw Walker’s son being choked by the teacher after they bumped into each other.

“And my son told him, ‘I didn’t bump you, you bumped me,’ and that’s when [name of teacher censored] grabbed him by his collar, pushed him into a corner, and choked him,” Walker said.

Walker is keeping her son at home and intends to consult an attorney.
