A Denver Uber driver was arrested after he drove a woman to the airport and then allegedly returned to her home to rob it.

According to the Denver Police Department, the driver, now identified as 51-year-old Gerald Montgomery, was taken into custody in Jefferson County for attempted burglary.

Apparently, Montgomery had taken a woman to the airport and then returned to rob her home, but the woman’s roommate foiled the alleged robbery.

“I had just gotten home when he was about to get in the back door. He probably thought no one else was here. Friends that take Uber, please be careful,” the roommate wrote. The roommate was able to identify Montgomery from a screenshot of the Uber receipt.

Uber has since reached out to the driver and has “immediately removed the driver’s access to the Uber platform, pending an investigation.”

The woman who was nearly robbed has since been warning friends away from Uber, opting instead for the more expensive ways home such as cabs. She says the extra money is worth the security. “I just paid $90 to come home from the airport today in a cab.,” she said. The Uber ride that nearly cost her home’s security was $39.88.
