Denzel Washington's 'Equalizer' officially getting a sequel

theGRIO REPORT - Denzel Washington is officially getting his first sequel...

Sony officially announced on Wednesday night during CinemaCon that it plans to make a sequel to Denzel Washington’s Equalizer.

Rumors have been circulating almost since Equalizer was released about a possible sequel, with Richard Wenk’s name floated around in February as a possible scriptwriter.

Although there is not yet a date set for the sequel, Sony representatives confirmed plans to make one, meaning Washington will be starring in the first sequel of his career after the September hit that was Equalizer.

Sony did not release any details concerning the creative team itself, leaving it up to speculation whether Antoine Fuqua would be returning to the helm after directing the first film and raking in $192 million in worldwide box office sales.
