Diddy avoids felony charges for 'assaulting' son's UCLA coach

theGRIO REPORT - Sean 'Diddy' Combs will not face felony charges for allegedly assaulting his son's UCLA football coach last month...

Sean “Diddy” Combs will not be facing felony charges following an alleged assault that took place at UCLA, where his son plays football.

According to Ricardo Santiago, a spokesman for the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, prosecutors have declined to charge the rapper for felony assault and battery and have turned the case over to the Los Angeles city attorney’s office where a misdemeanor filing will be considered.

“We are thankful that the district attorney rejected felony charges in this matter,” said Mark Geragos, who is a CNN legal analyst in addition to being Combs’ lawyer. “This case never should have been part of the criminal justice system to begin with.”

The charges were leveled against the music mogul after Combs allegedly fought with a coach during a practice session. Since then, reports have come out indicating that Combs had gotten upset at the coach for the way the coach was treating his son during training.

“Any actions taken by Mr. Combs were solely defensive in nature to protect himself and his son,” said a representative for Combs in a post on his website last month. “We are confident that once the true facts are revealed, the case will be dismissed.”
