A self-proclaimed voodoo priest in Florida used his victims’ belief in his powers to sexually manipulate women, according to police.

Brogenet Cinor, 48, was arrested last month for the rape of an 11-year-old girl. Police say that the victim, now 16, was taken to a shed out back where she was sexually abused in what Cinor claimed was an attempt to cleanse the evil from her.

“He was using the victims’ belief in voodoo and curses,” Sunrise Police Officer Cindi McCue told the Sun-Sentinel. “They believed they could die if they didn’t follow his instructions.”

Police are asking other victims to step forward, as they believe Cinor used his power and influence to take advantage of other women as well. They are investigating two other victims.

“The family, the mother and this child fully well believe in the power of voodoo, and she believed that she could be harmed or die as a result of not going forth with the cleansing,” said McCue.

Garfield Spence, a neighbor, could hear the chanting in the backyard but did not realize just what was going on next door. “It was just chanting, like whatever chants they did, and I would hear popping things, like those little white things that you throw on the ground and pop,” he said. “It sounded like that, but I let it go.”
