theGRIO REPORT - Two people were arrested Friday afternoon in Racine, Wisconsin after they got into a fight over the Confederate flag.

Two people were arrested Friday afternoon in Racine, Wisconsin after they got into a fight over the Confederate flag.

According to WDJT, Toni Barribeau had displayed the Confederate flag in her window when she says Tajuan Boatner walked by and stopped when he saw the display.

“He said I know you’re probably racist, can you please take it down,” Barribeau told the local CBS affiliate. “I said ‘fine, but I will probably put it in another window.’ No you won’t. I’ll make sure of it. So I went and put it in my other window.”

Barribeau said that Boatner then entered her home, knocked her down, and proceeded to take down the flag. She said that they got into a heated argument, during which she called Boatner the n-word.

“I called him the n-word,” said Barribeau. “But still that doesn’t mean you can put your hands on anybody.”

Both Barribeau and Boatner were arrested for their roles in the confrontation. Barribeau was given a citation, and Boatner was charged with battery, assault, and disorderly conduct.

“Because I argued with him,” said Barribeau. “It escalated and I got arrested.”

“She had an opportunity to go in the home and call police,” said Lt. Al Days.

But even after the fight and the arrest, Barribeau said that she will keep the flag up in her home.

“I’m not going to say its racist and it’s not racist,” said Barribeau. “They have their own opinion, and the education they have for the Confederate flag.”
