Chris Brown reportedly bails on gay pride event at nightclub in Atlanta

Chris Brown was supposed to make an appearance Saturday night at a nightclub event for Atlanta Black Gay Pride Weekend.

Brown was a no-show, according to event organizers.

But why?

Melissa Scott told the GA Voice she was “baffled” by the superstar’s absence. Scott is the founder of Traxx Girls, which put on the event.

“I think it’s unfortunate for mainstream artists to take people’s money with the complete prior knowledge of knowing what the event is and being very clear about what the event is about,” Scott told the GA Voice. “I’m completely baffled. You know it’s gay pride. You knew you agreed when you sent the contract in and took the money.”

Brown wasn’t scheduled to perform at the event, but he was supposed to introduce fellow artist Teyana Taylor. Brown was in Atlanta as part of his current “One Hell of a Nite Tour,” in which Taylor is a opening act.

Traxx Girls, which Scott describes as a “premiere lesbian promotional company,” has been promoting Brown’s appearance for weeks.

The GA Voice reports Brown bailed on his appearance because there were a few gay men present in the audience, which was overwhelming female.

Scott says she was heartbroken by the incident.

“Some people flew in from [Los Angeles],” she said. “I had 100 girls who flew in from the UK to hang out with this guy in an environment they’re comfortable in.”

Fetty Wap stepped in as a last-minute replacement for the event:
