Empire creator Lee Daniels is gearing up for the show’s second season, but while we’re waiting, he’d like to clear a few things up.
First of all, Daniels believes that there is a blatant bias in how Terrence Howard is being treated over his admission that he hit his two ex-wives.
“That poor boy. [Terrence] ain’t done nothing different than Marlon Brando or Sean Penn, and all of a sudden he’s some f***in’ demon,” Daniels said. “That’s a sign of the time, of race, of where we are right now in America.”
Second of all, he’s pleased that the rest of America has finally realized how perfect Taraji P. Henson is. “Taraji was what I call ‘Project Royalty’ because in the projects, honey, she is royalty. She was Meryl Streep in the streets; it just took a moment for white America to catch on,” he said.
Empire will be returning with a star-studded cast and plenty of twists and turns for its second season September 23rd on FOX.
