Malcolm Jamal-Warner, who played Theo on The Cosby Show, is breaking his silence on the allegations of sexual assault leveled against Bill Cosby.

He says that he is upset about how the legacy of The Cosby Show has been “tarnished,” according to an interview with the Associated Press.

“My biggest concern is when it comes to images of people of color on television and film, no matter what … negative stereotypes of people of color, we’ve always had ‘The Cosby Show’ to hold up against that,” he said. “And the fact that we no longer have that, that’s the thing that saddens me the most because in a few generations the Huxtables will have been just a fairy tale.”

He also said that he has been in touch with Cosby but declined to share what the pair discussed.

“I think the things that we discussed really have to stay private between us,” he said. “But it’s just a bad situation all around – for him, for his family, the women, their families, the legacy of the show.”

Cosby has faced growing controversy as an increasing number of women have come forward to accuse him of sexual assault.

Although he has admitted to having affairs, he has not been charged with any crimes relating to these allegations.
