Mass Christmas brawl erupts in Kentucky shopping center, nearly 2000 kids involved

In a chaotic scene the day after Christmas, thousands of kids were involved in a shocking mass brawl in a Kentucky shopping center that was captured on video.

Video showed shoppers desperately running out of Mall St Matthews in Louisville as kids brawled and harassed store employees. The teens also tried to prevent businesses from closing.

Although around 2,000 teens were involved in the massive disturbance, no arrests were made, with police chalking the lack of arrests up to the sheer number of kids involved.

“We were largely outnumbered, and our focus was on restoring order and dispersing the crowd,” St Matthews police officer Dennis McDonald said. “And we were focused on the safety of patrons and of our fellow officers. Certainly, if they were assaulting innocent people, police would have made arrests.”

There were 50 officers on the scene against the reported 2000 teens. Although police received reports of shots being fired, they could not confirm the reports.

A few injuries were reportedly, largely minor injuries from people being pushed and shoved.

McDonald said that the violence spilled over into other locations nearby and into the parking lot.

“We think they were communicating using social media,” he said. “They would disperse and then all of a sudden there would be another group congregating at another location.”

The cause of the scene of mass mayhem is still unknown at this time.
