Armstrong Williams, a conservative media entrepreneur who played a large role in the candidacy of Republican Ben Carson, has been named in a sexual harassment suit.

Charlton Woodyard, who filed the suit, claims that Williams attempted to “control Mr. Woodyard financially, professionally, and emotionally” and that he “abused his power to attempt to exploit [Woodyard] sexually.”

According to Woodyard, Williams set up meetings for Woodyard to get him jobs at such places as the Washington Times and others and also paid for expenses such as Uber fares and meals. He would often insist that Woodyard accompany him to the gym: “While at the gym, Mr. Williams pressured Mr. Woodyard to accompany him into the men’s steam room after exercising. Mr. Woodyard agreed but kept a towel wrapped around himself. Mr. Williams generally removed his towel and sat naked, exposing himself to Mr. Woodyard. Mr. Williams also made frequent remarks to Mr. Woodyard while naked in the steam room, about Greek and Roman bath houses.”

However, Woodyard claimed, when he started to become more independent in the jobs that Williams had helped him acquire, Williams “would not tolerate the fact that Mr. Woodyard had begun to find success independent of his patronage,” according to the complaint.

The suit also alleges that Williams “grabbed Mr. Woodyard’s penis through his pants and said to him, “you got small feet, small hands… and an oversized weapon. How does that work? How is that possible?”

However, Williams has claimed that Woodyard is simply “trying to get paid,” saying, “Something like this was filed against me before. . . He’s trying to follow the same script.”
