After a frightening carjacking and kidnapping on Tuesday morning, a 6-year-old boy has been reunited with his mother.

According to police, Caterrica Brown had just dropped off her 1-year-old daughter at daycare when a man approached and asked for a ride. When Brown refused, the man, 42-year-old Marvin Reeves, allegedly pulled her out of her car and drove off. Her 6-year-old son was still inside.

“Oh Lord! Oh Lord!” said a woman in a 911 call. “The man jumped in her car and drove off with her baby!”

In a desperate move, Brown grabbed onto the car to try and get the man to stop, but she was dragged along and hit until she had to let go after suffering damage to her arm.

An alert citizen called after seeing the suspect abandon the vehicle, and the 6-year-old was found at a bus stop after he ran up to a group of other children.

“To tell the truth, I did not wake up this morning thinking I was gonna have to fight for my son or my car that early in the morning,” Brown said to KARK-TV. “He could have had the car. The car was nothing. The car was just petty. He could have given me my son, let my son go.”

Reeves has since been arrested and charged with robbery, kidnapping, and second degree battery.
