Tyrese Gibson has snagged a recurring role in “Star,” the new series on Fox produced by Lee Daniels and Tom Donaghy.

He will be playing the character of Pastor Bobby Harris, who presides over the congregation where Carlotta (Queen Latifah) attends church. Like Carlotta, he is trying to turn his life around by turning it over to God, though both of them will face a crisis of faith as they begin a relationship.

The show itself revolves around three young singers, played by Jude Demorest, Ryan Destiny and Brittany O’Grady, who experience the challenges of the music industry as they struggle to carve out a name for themselves.
