‘Love & Hip-Hop’ stars Yandy and Mendeecees aren’t legally married
Despite an extravagant wedding, Yandy Smith and Mendeecees Harris might not have ever signed a wedding certificate to make it legal and official.
Yandy Smith and Mendeecees Harris may have had an extravagant wedding special last Memorial Day just before Harris started up his eight-year prison sentence, but apparently, they might not have ever signed a wedding certificate to make the whole thing legal and official.
In a previous for “Love & Hip-Hop: New York,” Smith explains to Kimbella Vanderhee and Juju, “I have a union with Mendeecees, but I did not go into a partnership with Mendeecees and the government.”
The move might be purely about finances, since in some states, the mothers of children can go after a man’s spouse for child support. With Harris in prison, a legal marriage would mean that their assets are combined, meaning Smith might be on the hook for paying that child support. And since she can’t get along with Samantha Wallace and Erika DeShazo, she probably doesn’t want to give her money away.
It’s possible that the two will sign a marriage license once Harris is out of prison, seeing as the two seem to be married in all but paperwork, and Yandy goes by Yandy Smith-Harris. We’ll just have to wait and see what happens when Harris gets out of jail.
