Michigan firefighter fired after racist Facebook comments

A Michigan firefighter was fired after posting racist Facebook comments last Thursday.

Ryan Hudson engaged in a Facebook comment conversation with Tarvenia, who posted a comment on a story about president-elect Donald Trump criticizing war veterans like John McCain. Tarvenia said that her brother was a veteran before also stating her support for Colin Kaepernick and his decision not to kneel for the national anthem in order to take a stand against the state of race relations in the United States.

“Your brother can pack up and leave this country,” Hudson responded. “I don’t care if he is a vet or not. I am a vet and what (Kaepernick) is try to represent is wrong.”

When Tarvenia mentioned Black Lives Matter in her response, though, Hudson went off on her.

“F–k Black Lives Matter. You are the epitome of a n—-r and if you think it’s just black lives kiss my a– b—h and go back to the fields that us in the north fought to free you from,” he wrote.

Although Hudson deleted the comments, Tarvenia captured them in screenshots, and Belding Fire Chief Greg Moore fired Hudson after being shown the screenshots.

Hudson later apologized and admitted that he had been drinking at the time he made the comments.

“It’s very out of character for me,” Hudson told WOOD-TV. “I’m truly sorry from the bottom of my heart because it doesn’t reflect everybody.”
