On Tuesday afternoon, a Philadelphia man was fatally shot in the head while driving after he and his girlfriend got into an argument on the road.

Martina Westcott turned herself in to police on Wednesday and admitted to shooting her boyfriend, Terrell Bruce, in the head while they were driving. Bruce lost control of the car and crashed, and police who arrived on the scene initially thought that Bruce had been killed in the crash, because Westcott was nowhere to be found.

However, when police found the gunshot wound to his temple, and after witnesses said that they had seen a woman climb out of the crash and flee the scene, police began the search for Westcott before she turned herself in.

Bruce’s twin brother, Brandon Bruce, has since set up a GoFundMe page, which has collected nearly $23,000 as of Thursday.

“A selfless, hard worker, widely known for putting the interests of others ahead of his own, Terrell was a well-regarded pillar in the community despite his young age,” Brandon Bruce wrote on the page.

Police have not stated just what the argument leading up to the fatal shooting and crash was about.

A few days before the shooting, Wescott posted a cryptic message on Facebook: “If someone ever suggests, ‘Don’t fall in love, he might break your heart,’ your only response should be, ‘don’t live, you might die.'”
