The DC Cannabis Coalition has announced that it will be handing out free marijuana prior to the inauguration of Donald Trump.

The coalition stated that it would be handing out 4,200 joints of marijuana for free on Inauguration Day as part of an effort to promote “equal rights for cannabis users, growers, and their families” in Washington D.C., according to Adam Eidinger, the founder of DCMJ.

DCMJ recently introduced and backed Initiative 71, which passed in 2014 and made it legal to possess two ounces or less of marijuana, but Eidinger said that he and the DCMJ are worried the progress made with Initiative 71 will be lost under a Trump administration.

“We are looking at a guy who as recently as April said that they are going to enforce federal law on marijuana all over the country. He said marijuana is dangerous,” Eidinger said.

Since selling marijuana is still illegal in the district, the weed will be distributed for free, which means everything will be legal as long as no money changes hands.

After the marijuana is distributed, activists are invited to march to the National Mall in support of legalization for recreational marijuana use.
