Girl kidnapped at birth reunites with biological parents

Luther Vandross was outed as gay after his death.

Kamiyah Mobley was kidnapped from the hospital where she was born, and now, eighteen years later, she has been reunited with her birth parents.

Her mother, Shanara, and her father, Craig Aikin, were overjoyed to be reunited, and they took their first pictures together as a family on Saturday in South Carolina.

“It was the best day of my life. It was a beautiful, beautiful day. We are so happy. I hope the world is rejoicing with us,” Aikin said of the long overdue reunion. ”We laughed, we chatted, we didn’t allow any negative thoughts. We didn’t talk about the kidnapping.”

Kamiyah went by name Alexis Manigo all her life, and while she is happy to be reunited with her family, she is also attached to the woman who stole her at birth. She says that her kidnapper, Gloria Williams, “is no felon” and that she raised her “with everything I needed and most of all everything I wanted.”

Williams reportedly suffered a miscarriage a week before she drove three hours to the hospital where she abducted Kamiyah. She could spend up to life in prison if she is convicted.
