Malcolm X scripted TV series reportedly in the works

An independent studio called Critical Content is giving Malcolm X a scripted drama series, according The Hollywood Reporter.

An independent studio called Critical Content is giving Malcolm X a scripted drama series, according The Hollywood Reporter.

The studio has optioned Malcolm X: A Life of Reinvention, Manning Marable‘s Pulitzer Prize-winning Malcolm X biography, though David Matthews will write for the adaptation.

Critical Content’s Tom Forman, Andrew Marcus and Ray Ricord will executive produce along with Matthews, and Dr. Leith Mullings and Michael Tyner will both produce and act as consultants for the project.

The studio also plans to do a documentary that focuses on the legacy of Malcolm X even beyond his death.

The project is still in the early development stages and has not yet been cast.
