All races have seen a decline in breast cancer rates except African-American women. The mortality rate is at least 1.5 times more than white women, despite the fact that white women actually develop breast cancer more often.

In the under 45 age group, black women develop breast cancer more than white women, and the cancer is usually more aggressive.

Triple-negative breast cancer, a type of breast cancer that is harder to treat, is also more common in black women.

This year, 26,840 African-American women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in the United States and 6,040 will die.

Some factors can’t be controlled, like a strong family history of breast cancer or testing positive for certain breast cancer genes.

However, there are certain risk factors you can control.
