Rihanna says she would 'love' to play Whitney Houston in biopic
theGRIO REPORT - Rihanna has confirmed that she would 'love' to play Whitney Houston in a biopic about her life...
In late February, just weeks after Whitney Houston’s death, reports surfaced that Rihanna was in the running to play the late R&B icon in a biopic being produced by Clive Davis. The “We Found Love” singer is now speaking out on the record, confirming her interest in bringing Whitney’s life to the big screen.
While promoting her new film Battleship, Rihanna recently revealed that she would “love” to portray Whitney Houston.
When asked if she would take on the role to play Whitney she said, “I didn’t get that call yet.” She continued, “That would be something that I would have to give my entire life to do because I would want to really pull it off. That’s a huge, huge role and whoever does it has to do a good job.”
Rihanna said that she had the honor of meeting Whitney before she died, and considers the later songstress her musical inspiration.
“I met her at a Clive Davis party. I love her. She’s one of my big music icons, and I have always looked up to her,” Rihanna said.
“My first song that I remember falling in love with was a Whitney Houston song — ‘I Will Always Love You.’ All of her music actually was always played in my house, with Mariah Carey and Celine Dion. It was really inspiring and it made me develop a passion for music, so really she’s partly responsible for me being here in this industry.”
