Funeral held for legendary Olympic and NBA coach Chuck Daly (video)

Detroit, MI – May 9, 2009

Chuck Daly, 78 died on Saturday morning in Jupiter, FL. It was announced in March that had been diagnosed with Pancreatic cancer. Daly led the “Dream Team” to an Olympic Gold medal in 1992 and retired with a regular-season record of 638-437 in his 13-season career.

Former associates had this to say about Daly:

NBA commissioner David Stern: the “void left by his death will never be filled.”

Charles Barkley: “I never understood how a great man and nice guy coached the Bad Boys,”

Larry Bird: “He treated us all with respect and had us all vying for the same goal. For me, it was an honor to play for him.”
