PHOENIX (AP) — Phoenix police arrested three Army soldiers after they were pulled over for speeding in a rental car with 680 pounds of marijuana and $10,000 cash inside.
Maricopa County sheriff’s deputies made the arrest Tuesday night during a crime sweep.
Deputies say Dwayne Campbell, Llewellyn Stamoulis and Romaine May were all dressed in military uniforms and carried valid military ID.
The officers say all three men were charged with suspicion of marijuana possession, drug transportation, money laundering and conspiracy. Stamoulis was also booked on a count of driving with a suspended license.
The ages and hometowns of the soldiers were not available Wednesday.
