Lauryn Hill on the bill for ‘Rock the Bells’

Initially, the 2010 bill for annual hip-hop hall of fame/festival Rock the Bells seemed slightly lackluster. Obviously, Wu-Tang Clan performing “Enter the 36 Chambers,” KRS-One performing “Criminal Minded,” Slick Rick performing “The Great Adventures of Slick Rick,” and Rakim rhyming “Paid From Rull,” is nothing to scoff at, but all of the acts had made RTB appearances during the event’s seven-year history.

That changed Wednesday when the festival’s organizers, Guerilla Union, announced arguably their biggest coups to date, getting hometown hero Snoop Dogg to perform the entirety of his 1993 opus “Doggystyle,” A Tribe Called Quest to perform “Midnight Marauders,” DJ Premier to pay tribute to Gangstarr, plus the reclusive Lauryn Hill as a “very special guest.”
