Police in Louisville, Kentucky are investigating a bizarre series of events that ended with the death of a wheelchair-bound man.
Police say 52-year-old Marshall Murray called them Monday night to report he’d been shot.
“Apparently he had a graze wound to the neck,” said Louisville Metro Police Department Spokesman Dwight Mitchell. “He refused medical treatment and at the time was very uncooperative with the officers.”
A little more than an hour later, Murray was shot again multiple times, just a few blocks away.
“That is unusual and unfortunately it was the end of this gentleman’s life,” Mitchell said.
Police can’t say for sure whether the two shootings are related but Mitchell says it’s likely.
“We haven’t ruled out anything at this point,” he said. “Our detectives are currently canvassing the neighborhood again for potential witnesses that may give us more clarity to what happened.”
Once again, they find themselves with a homicide investigation and few witnesses to talk to.
“Unfortunately in a lot of the homicides we do have, we know there are people who have seen things or have information that could be vital to the investigation and unfortunately those individuals don’t always come forward,” Mitchell said.
Murray did have a criminal history dating back almost a decade but mostly for nuisance and alcohol-related charges.
