Nearly 75% of urban youth with witness, be a victim of, or know someone who is a victim of a violent crime before the age of thirteen. Almost none of them will receive psychological counseling or therapy to help them cope with the trauma. In recent years in the city of Chicago, black-on-black violence and killing deaths of black males has rivaled the death tolls of soldiers in Iraq. The cycle of violence in Chicago has many complex challenges. In order to observe and uncover what’s really going on, Michael Scott, our Chicago-based Game Changer Fellow took to the streets and interviewed several young men. He also highlighted a community-based program that is bringing people together to heal, save lives, and change the game.
