In the weeks following the George Zimmerman verdict, some stars have come forward and confirmed their boycott of the state of Florida.
theGrio op-ed: What if the music boycott really did happen?
Stevie Wonder was the first to announce his boycott during a performance in Quebec City, Canada.
“I decided today that until the ‘Stand Your Ground’ law is abolished in Florida, I will never perform there again,” Wonder announced. “As a matter of fact, wherever I find that law exists, I will not perform in that state or in that part of the world.”
Gospel singers Mary Mary and soul singer Chaka Khan have also joined the boycott of Florida until “Stand Your Ground” is removed.
