From NBC Archives: In his last days, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. feared that his dream had become a nightmare.

Protests throughout the country became violent as the black community grew impatient with the slow pace of change.

Dr. King never thought of quitting, pushed for the continuation of non-violent demonstrations and never quit hoping that all men would walk the streets of the United States as equals.
