Rap Genius: The top 5 rap lyrics of the week — Drake is living the life

On Sunday, the Grammys faced a ton of backlash from fans around the world, especially in the rap categories.

On a brighter note, Rap Genius released it’s long awaited app for the iPhone, and you can now have Genius in your pocket!

This week we feature the Imagine Dragons and Kendrick remix and a Drake song where he swoons the ladies with his Spanish speaking skills. Here’s the lines of the week:

5. “Uh, they mad ’cause they can’t stop me, ‘Cause I said f*** swag, I got moxie” — Pharoahe Monch, ‘Bad MF’

Mr. “Y’all Know the Name” returns with a powerfully funky cry against simplistic pop-rap.  In this couplet, he dismisses current rap trends and calls for a return to original, smart, exciting music in just a few words.  Plus, his use of “moxie” gives the whole thing the ring of a James Cagney movie, which is even more awesome.

4. “To raise a child, it might take a village” — Young Thug ft. Nicki Minaj, ‘Danny Glover’

Nicki Minaj collaborates with one of the hottest up and coming rappers, Young Thug. Nicki was embraced by the “Young Money” family, who “raised” her to be one of the biggest (and wealthiest) stars in the game. Young mula baby!

3. “Everything in life’s subject to change, change whip, change grind, Change clothes, change opinions right before I change my mind” — Imagine Dragons ft. Kendrick Lamar, ‘Radioactive remix’

K.Dot acknolwedges the temporary aspects of life, including the indecisiveness that plagues us all. But even if you take away all the glitz and glamour, he still has his music…which is everything.
