JACKSONVILLE, Florida — A Jacksonville, Florida, mother was left without a birthday gift for her young son after her car was burglarized and his present was stolen, until a kind law enforcement officer stepped forward.
Jacksonville Sheriff’s Officer Derek Pratico responded to a car burglary March 27 and found the victim extremely upset because her son’s birthday gift was gone and she could not afford to replace it, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
Officer Pratico wrote up the report and left the scene.
The following day, Officer Pratico returned to the victim’s home with a birthday present, birthday cake and birthday card for the young boy so he could celebrate his birthday. Officer Pratico also purchased a $100 gift card to give to the child’s mother to help her get back on her feet.
