Gatorade has released a new 90-second spot with Jeter arriving at Yankee Stadium and thanking the fans who loved and applauded him during his 20 seasons as a Yankee.
A Gatorade exec informed Adweek the idea for the commercial was conceived by The Captain himself. He also was the one who decided on the Frank Sinatra’s “My Way.”
On the way to the ballpark, Jeter greets children playing in a nearby park and fans on the sidewalk.
The warmest moment is when Jeter enters Stan’s Sports Bar. He is welcomed with: “We’ve been waiting for you to come in here since ’98 at the least,” to which Jeter responds, “You never invited me.”
Jeter is an endorser for many other brands like Jordan Brand and Ford. They will all take The Captain on a farewell tour. However, it may be difficult to top the Gatorade spot released on Thursday.
Named “Made in New York,” the commercial features a black and white filtering that perfectly suits the Sinatra soundtrack. It is the most recent Jeter farewell, and it managed to impress a lot of people.
