Activist and author Cornel West was arrested while taking a part of the “Ferguson October” rally on Monday.
The protest attracted over 1,000 peaceful demonstrators voicing their frustration over the police shooting death of Michael Brown and more recently Vonderitt Myers.
According to the Huffington Post, during a pre-rally Mass, West said that he had came to Ferguson, Missouri, to get arrested.
“It’s a beautiful thing to see people on fire for justice, but I didn’t come here to give a speech,” West said during a discussion on Sunday night at St. Luis University. “I came here to go to jail.”
Journalists captured Dr. West’s arrest and posted them on social media.
