Angel Hooper, 6, was shot last week when she was at the store buying a pack of bubble gum in southeast Kansas City, according to the Kansas City Star.

The bullet was fired from a passing car.

Since Friday, crowds have left stuffed animals and balloons near the 7-Eleven where the incident occurred as well as pleas for anyone with information to come forward.

Crowds have also urged drivers to honk their horns in support of their calls for justice. Sunday, the community also organized a vigil to honor Angel.

“It means a lot to me,” said Angel’s great-grandmother, Bertha Sril. “It is something that you won’t get over overnight, to know that all these people care about you and your family and what’s going on.”

Police have not yet announced any arrests in this case.

Angel’s family has launched a GoFoundMe page to help pay for her funeral.
