Sony Pictures reportedly cancelled a press junket for Kevin Hart’s new film, The Wedding Ringer, following leaks of studio emails containing disparaging comments about the comedian.
According the The Hollywood Reporter, a press event was scheduled to take place Sunday promoting Hart’s new comedy starring Josh Gad and Alan Ritchson.
The Wedding Ringer is being distributed by Screen Gems, a division of Sony Pictures Entertainment.
A reporter from the New York Daily News was informed that the junket was pushed in order to ensure that the focus would remain on the film.
In November, an email from Screen Gems president Clint Culpepper went viral after he referred to Hart as a “whore” for demanding more money in return for promoting his films on his social media platforms.
Hart responded to the “whore” comment, saying he would take the high road.
“I’m able to brush ignorance off of my shoulder and continue to move forward,” he said in an Instagram post.
