Did anybody order “thug rice?”
Graffiato, an Italian-inspired restaurant in Washington, D.C., plans to hold a hip-hop dinner honoring slain rappers Biggie Smalls and Tupac in February. A proposed menu for the occasion hit Twitter earlier this week and left a lot of people shaking their heads.

Yes, you’re reading that clearly: “thug rice” is on the menu. And while you’re at it, be sure to check out “blood money sausage.”
Graffiato chef Mike Isabella caught wind of the criticism and told DCist the menu is simply a “work in progress.”
The Graffiato dinner on February 2 is a celebration of hip-hop from two of the greatest artists of the ’90s. The menu is still a work in progress, and dishes will be inspired by songs, lyrics and classic east and west coast dishes.
There’s probably a dozen ways to more properly honor the legacies of Biggie and Pac than this. Or maybe a thousand.
