Reports of shots fired at "day party" during CIAA weekend
People who were at party during “CIAA Weekend Takeover” have taken to social media to recount an alleged shooting. It is unknown if the party was an official event sanctioned by the CIAA (Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association).
Two men were shot at a club last year after a CIAA tournament.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are investigating reports of shots fired at the Label nightclub in the N.C. Music Factory complex Saturday night, city spokeswoman Cynthia Shah-Khan said.
She said the report came in at 7:10 p.m.
Medic said it took one person with minor injuries in the 900 block of N.C. Music Factory Boulevard to Carolinas Medical Center.
Please be advised that an incident occurred this evening at Label following an event. The exact circumstances concerning the incident have yet to be determined. Officials at Label are cooperating with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department concerning their investigation of this matter. Tonight’s events at Label will take place as scheduled. It should be noted that there will continue to be very substantial security for all Label events during tournament weekend. And, Label remains fully committed to the safety and security of its patrons.
