Joe DiFilippo, a vice principal at a middle school in Fresno, California, has been placed on leave after he was caught on video making racially insensitive comments.

In the video, which was uploaded to YouTube on Friday, the vice principal can be seen leaning against a pole and speaking with a few kids, most of whom are off-camera.

One student asks, “Who at this school do you not like?” to which another student can be heard responding, “Me… all of us, all of us.” Both of the students are off-camera.

“I just don’t like the black kids,” DiFilippo responds.

There is no context for the video or evidence to show if he did or did not mean it as a joke, but many parents are saying it doesn’t matter.

“That’s not a joke,” parent Latricia Medley said. “That’s not a very funny joke.”

The district for Scandinavian Middle School has said that DiFilippo has been placed on paid administrative leave, but many people are saying that the move isn’t punishment enough.

“If he said it, he needs to be fired,” said another parent, Ann Frank.

Some African-American students said that they felt targeted by DiFilippo because of their skin color.
