That’s why, she says, that playoff season is the time for players’ wives to switch into “support system” mode.
Jackie’s husband, Doug Christie, is an ex-NBA star who played in the league for 15 seasons, so she has plenty of experience to draw from.

When playoffs come to call, she says, “Let him watch ESPN, be their wife, their secretary, their dancer, their stripper … whatever you need to be to make him comfortable.”
She says this strategy got her through 15 years of marriage in the NBA, saying, “I’d rub his feet, I ran his bath, cook his dinner, I kept his house quiet. I ran it like a military base.”
