Andrea Irwin, whose son, Tony Robinson, was killed by police in March, has received a flood of hate since her son’s death, including many messages that depicted her son as a villain who deserved to die.
“I have never experienced so much hate in my life. My son is dead.. and ppl choose to hurt me because my baby died @ the hands of the POLICE!” she tweeted on Tuesday morning.
Recently, details have been released by Madison, Wisconsin police about the incident describing Robinson as under the influence of several drugs and claiming that he physically assaulted Officer Matt Kenny before Kenny shot Robinson.

“They’ve gone above and beyond to try to make sure they kick me when I’m down,” Irwin told CNN’s Anderson Cooper last week. “They have done a smear campaign against my child.”
While Irwin has appeared on television and has been active in engaging the national TV audience in discussing how her son, who is biracial, may have been perceived by police, it is not her TV presence but her Twitter presence that seems to be generating the most backlash.
My baby was all of 19 yrs old.. he was a good boy. What ever mistakes were made did NOT warrant DEATH! Matt Kenny is a LIAR! I will prove it

However, Irwin’s supporters want her to know that she is not alone.
“Please take care and don’t let horrible folks on Twitter upset you,” one supporter tweeted to Irwin May 17. Irwin replied May 18, “They do not move me at all”
