Navy mom returns home, surprises 5-year-old son for his birthday

Builder Petty Officer Second Class Tiffany Monroe wanted to make her son Scottie’s birthday one of his most memorable ever. She had been in Dubai and only recently returned to South Carolina.
According to WCBD, Monroe dressed up as Scottie’s favorite Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle (Leonardo) and showed up at the bowling alley where Scottie’s birthday party was being held. Still in costume, she sang “Happy Birthday” along with everyone else, and then she took off her mask.
All the kids rushed to hug her, but Scottie dropped to his knees and began to cry.
“We wanted to do something big and she’s missed all their birthdays and all their promotions so we figured she’d come into the tail end and make a big bang,” said Michelle Scott, Monroe’s mother, who helped to organize the birthday surprise for Scottie.
“Face time and everything else didn’t do it justice so it was definitely worth the trip,” said Monroe.
She then asked little Scottie, “Is this your best birthday ever?”
His response? An enthusiastic “Yes.”
