A man and woman allegedly attacked a blind Salvation Army bell ringer in the line of a local burger joint on Saturday.
According to NBC Miami, the incident began when Juan Rodriguez, along with his friend Audrianna Wignal, accused the bell ringer, 41-year-old Jermaine Simmons, of cutting in line at a Smashburger. The three briefly argued before the duo allegedly attacked Simmons so viciously that his nose and cheek were broken.

“He swung his right hand at me real hard – so hard that I dropped the bucket,” Simmons told NBC. “I was seeing blood that was coming out of my nose my head and even my eye.”
Simmons then dropped to the ground and was kicked and hit with his bucket.
“He did hit me in the head with the bucket. I told him I was pressing charges — he just laughed and said no big thing,” Simmons said.

Both of Simmons’ attackers were arrested on the scene and were charged with misdemeanor assault over the incident.
Rodriguez was already on parole for another assault, while Wignal was on probation for criminal mischief at the time of the attack. Both posted bail after the attack, though Rodriguez was arrested on Monday by the New York State Division of Parole with an updated felony assault charge.
