The Empowerment Plan was launched in December as the Warmest Winter initiative. Its goal was to get 1,000 coats for the homeless. Chance the Rapper said that he wanted the coats for the Chicagoans to be “water-resistant” and “self-heating.” He also hoped to get coats that could transform into sleeping bags or bags that can be carried over the shoulder when they are not being used in order to make them easier to carry around and more useful.
Thus far, the campaign has raised $102,507 and sponsored 1,025 coats.
