Two employees charged in teen's death at 'troubled' youth facility
Two men have been charged in the death of a 16-year-old resident of a troubled youth facility in Illinois.
Authorities say facility employees James Davis and Justin Serak lied to investigators about what caused the teen’s death.
According to a CBS Chicago report, 16-year-old Shaquan Allen died of “asphyxiation due to restraint.”
Davis and Serak initially told investigators all three slipped on some water after a struggle. Authorities later determined this story wasn’t true.
The facility, Allendale Association residential treatment center, is meant to help boys and girls with behavioral disabilities.
Investigators say the 16-year-old became unconscious after a brief struggle. Davis had the teen by the throat and Serak was holding his legs, according to CBS Chicago.
