Wendy Williams bizarrely defends online backlash to Jesse Williams’ BET speech
It’s been more than a week since Jesse Williams delivered his soaring BET Awards speech, but it’s still making headlines
Williams accepted BET’s Humanitarian award, and his acceptance speech highlighted the struggles of the Black Lives Matter movement. Of course, as the self-proclaimed Queen of All Media, TV personality Wendy Williams had something to say.

—BET Awards had great moments but Jesse Williams’ speech won the night
“I would be really offended if there was a school known as a historically white college,” Williams says. “We have historically black colleges.”
We’re not sure what that has to do with anything Jesse was talking about, but Williams continued: “What if there was a national organization for white people only?”
(Face palm)
Last week on her show, Williams’ hot take on Williams speech consisted of this gem: “While he was giving his very moving, intellectual speech, all I heard were panties dropping.”
Thanks for your infinite wisdom Wendy.

Though Wendy Williams might try, Jesse Williams’ work for the African American community cannot be overlooked. This year, he has starred in and produced the BET documentary “Stay Woke: The Black Lives Matter Movement,” which chronicled the growth of the movement.
He also serves on the Board of Directors for The Advancement Project, a multi-racial civil rights organization.
