Cast of ‘Empire’ reveals what’s at stake for black community in new Clinton ad

A new ad for Hillary Clinton, released Wednesday, features the cast of “Empire” as they tell African-American voters just what’s at stake in this year’s election.

The ad, which is directed by Lee Daniels, is one minute long and features some powerful questions; it is entitled “What Will You Say?”

“What will I tell my son?” Taraji P. Henson asks in the ad. “What will you tell your daughter? What will we tell the future generation?”

Bryshere Gray then lists the names of several men and women who have been killed by police and whose names have become hashtags: Trayvon Martin, Sandra Bland, Freddie Gray and Philando Castile.

“There’s only one person in this race who said Black Lives Matter,” Gray says in the ad.

The cast of Empire then reminds potential voters just how precious their right to vote is and what was given up to get it for them.

“So many women and men died for us to have the right to vote,” Daniels says. “Every time we sit out, we dishonor their sacrifices.”
