Clinton urged to seek recount amid reports of hacked election results
The election results may have been manipulated or hacked in three swing states that went to Donald Trump for the 2016 presidential election.
According to New York Magazine, a group of election lawyers and computer scientists claim that the election results may have been manipulated or hacked in three swing states that went to Donald Trump for the 2016 presidential election, and the group wants Hillary Clinton to seek a recount.
According to the group, Clinton’s numbers were down 7 percent in Wisconsin in areas that used electronic voting machines as opposed to paper ballots or optical scanners, resulting in the possibility of 30,000 votes that were not attributed to Clinton. She lost the state by 27,000.
Clinton did well in metropolitan areas, which use paper ballots, but rural areas, where she did not, use electronic ballots.
The group did not have any proof of tampering but called on Clinton to demand and recount because of the patterns identified not only in Wisconsin but also in Pennsylvania and Michigan. Pennsylvania was called for Trump, but Michigan’s results remain too close to call.
According to the group, if these three states go to Clinton rather than Trump, Clinton will have enough votes in the Electoral College to get the presidency.
The deadline to challenge the results is next week, though it is not clear whether or not Clinton will do so, especially as the Obama administration is against a recount, citing desires for a smooth transition of power.
