On Tuesday, Odell Beckham Jr. reportedly signed off on the most lucrative deal ever to be signed by an NFL player for endorsements.
Nike, according to NiceKicks.com, matched an offer made to Beckham by Adidas in order to retain him, with the offer ultimately reaching $29 million over five years, an amount that does not include incentives that could add another million to the deal each year as well as other triggers that could lead to a grand total of $48 million over eight years.
The deal reportedly emphasized the idea that Beckham would be a “brand icon” for Nike and would push his brand beyond football and toward a global audience.
